Better Old Buddies - 4th Gs Reading Project

Vonsild School and the local old people´s home have a reading project running where the 4th graders from Vonsild School visit the elderly once in a while to read out loud for them. In this way the 4th graders learn to read for a purpose - they have to practice and do their best and for the elderly to give a great experience as they enjoy the stories and the social aspect by the visit.

It is an ongoing reading project for all 4th graders at Vonsild.

Both old and young enjoy the visits and look forward to next time.

Today Vonsild School/ headmaster Jens Bay had an important Skype meeting with headmaster Gunnar Rasmussen (Danish origin) from St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Primary School, Tempelstowe, Melbourne. They run the original Australian Better Buddies Project (The Alannah and Madeline Foundation) as we have adopted in Vonsild after Crown Princess Mary visited Vonsild School in 2008. She will be visiting the Better Buddies Conference in Australia in two weeks´ time.

Weakening of radiation

PointThe point of these experiments is to see which radiation which have the longest range and highest intensity. It’s also an experiment which shows us how much resistance they can fly through.
Materials:
Alfa-, Beta-, and Gamma sources. Geiger tube and counter. Profile track with two riders. A ruler. Absorb set with different plates with different sizes. Other things like paper.
Experiment 1:
We started with the Alfa-source. We placed it in one of the riders and in the opposite rider we placed the Geiger tube, which was connected to a Geiger counter. We placed the Alfa-source close to the Geiger tube. Then we turned on the Geiger counter and heard really many beeps (which means that the intensity is high). Then we took the rider with the Alfa-source and moved it further from the Geiger tube. When the rider was moved a bit the beeps became less.
We removed the Alfa-source from the rider again and placed the Beta-source in the rider. We turned off the Geiger counter and moved the Beta-source rider close to the Geiger tube again. We turned on the Geiger counter again and heard many beeps but not as many as the Alfa-source. We moved the rider with the Beta-source further from the Geiger counter again and this time we noticed that there still were many beeps in a longer range than before.
We removed the Beta-source from the rider again and placed the Gamma-source. We turned off the Geiger counter and moved the Gamma-source close to the Geiger tube. Then we turned on the Geiger counter again and heard medium numbers of beeps. Then we started to move the Gamma-source further from the Geiger tube and this time we noticed and were very surprised that the beeps stopped between where the Alfa- and Beta-sources’ beeps stopped. Our teacher has told us that this experiment had been a failure. The Gamma-source was suppose to last much longer than the Beta-source. It was ought to sound like that the beeps still were intact when the Gamma-source was very far away.

Experiment 2:
We started with the Alfa-source and pointed it towards the Geiger tube. We put a paper between but it didn’t have any effect so we folded the paper once. It still didn’t have effect so we kept folding. The beam first got weakened when we had folded the paper three times and then had 8 layers of paper.
Then we tried with the Beta-source and we saw that paper didn’t had any effect at all. We tried therefore with some thicker aluminium-plates. The beam got weakened when 2 mm aluminium hang between the Beta-source and the Geiger tube. We saw a clear change. The Beta-source was obviously more persistent than the Alfa-source.
Then it became the Gamma-source’s turn. Here we had to adopt a tough stance. Neither paper or aluminium had any effect. The intensity first started dropping when we used lead. When the beam finally got weakened 1,5 cm of lead, 1 cm of aluminium and 32 layers of paper hang as brakes.
Theory:
If we have an arm, Alfa-radiation will stop on the skin, while Beta-radiation stops inside the arm and finally Gamma-radiation doesn’t stop. It flies right through the arm. These sources are radioactive.
The decay-process for the 3 radiations:
The actual Alfa-radiation is (we can take Radon as an example) when Radon transmits a Helium-core (consisting of two protons and two neutrons) because of it’s unstability. When Radon has transmitted the Helium-core (Alfa-particle), it becomes the element named Polonium.

Beta-radiation often starts because the nucleus is unstable (it has too many neutrons). Therefore the nucleus emit an electron (a Beta-particle) and now the nucleus transforms a neutron to a proton. The nucleus is positive and because it has got a proton more, it changes into the element just above it in the periodic table (if it was number 55 before, then it is number 56 now. It had got and extra proton and the numbers of protons correspond to the element’s number in the periodic table).

Caesium gains a proton and transforms into Barium while it emits an electron.

The gamma-radiation is pure energy. When a atomic nucleus splits (fission), it releases a lot of energy, that's called gamma-radiation.

In our daily life radioactive radiation is nothing we should be afraid of. We have in fact a radioactive isotope of Kalium in our body. Background radiation is mostly coming from the sky or the earth and isn’t dangerous either. It’s in tiny amounts so we are not affected by it, even though it hits us every day. If a power station explodes, thousands of radioactive matters flies out in our atmosphere and can be carcinogenic or deadly.
Konklusion:
We found out that Alfa-radiation had a short range but a very high intensity close up. Beta-radiation had a not quite as intense radiation but it had a longer range than Alfa-radiation. Gamma-radiation had the longest range. It was not that intense but it was almost unstoppable. Gamma is pure energy/electromagnetic radiation so it doesn’t react like the others. The Alfa-particle is the biggest (It consists of a Helium-core (two protons and two neutrons and the core is positive)) it weighs 4 unit. The Beta-particle is the smallest. It consists of an electron and is therefore negative. It weighs 1/2000 of a unit.
We proved that the Alfa-particle is the biggest given that we could stop it with something as thin as paper. We proved that the Beta-particle was smaller given that it could fly through much more robust materials.

There are 3 types of radiation. Alpha, Gamma and Beta.

Alpha-radiation:

Alpha-radiation consists of two neutrons and two protons.That’s the Helium element. Alpha is the biggest radiation of Beta and Gamma radiation. Alpha is a very powerful radiation, that can damage your body, because it is so massive. Alpha has a speed of 15.000 km/s and that’s 5% the speed of light. But Alpha looses its energy really fast. That’s why it has a short range. Alpha can’t penetrate your skin and go through your body. And that’s why it is so dangerous. With the speed of light and that it can’t penetrate your skin, does that it has a powerful force, which will hit your skin with a massive amount of burst. If you inhale materials with a high amount of Alpha it can really damage your body.

Beta-radiation:

Beta-radiation has a longer range, and it is more penetrating. Beta emissions one electron or a positron. A positron is like an anti-electron. If a positron ever will come in contact with an electron it will be an annihilation. Because in the annihilation, 100% of the mass is converted into energy. Beta-radiation is not so dangerous as Alpha. If Beta radiation hits your body it will begin to damage it. It takes long time before you can feel/see that Beta has damaged your body, because it takes longer time for Beta to hurt your body than Alpha does. Worst of all you can get cancer. Young children especially new born children are vulnerable.The energy Beta sends out, is far more than Alpha, but less than Gamma. Like Alpha, Beta travels at the speed of light.

Gamma-radiation:

Gamma is unlike the other radiations. While the two others have an element or a mass, Gamma is just pure energy. Electromagnetic energy (EM). It takes a paper to stop Alpha. it takes an iron plate to stop Beta. But with Gamma it takes more than that. It takes a block of lead. Because as you know Alpha has a high mass, because it consists of the Helium element. That’s why it only takes a paper to stop it. Beta has a small particle. It’s not near as big as Alpha because it needs an iron plate to stop it. Because Beta sends out an electron or a positron. An electron is 2000 times smaller than a proton. Remember a proton and a positron is not the same! Gamma is energy, and that’s why it takes more than an iron plate to stop it. So why can lead stop it? As it is, Gamma belongs in the EM wave class. That means that EM waves get absorbed during the penetration of the lead. What absorbs the energy? It’s the electrons. They absorb the energy and converts it into heat or light. Because Gamma can generate heat with the help of the electrons from the lead, it can maybe in the future be used in many products. But the main source of this, will be to use it to make electricity. You could also combine positrons and a electrons in a controlled environment. That will force them together and make an explosion and form energy, used to make electricity.

Alpha-radiation is not very penetrating, so that means that a little simple paper can stop the radiation. There need to be 8 pieces of paper to stop Alpha-radiation.

Beta-radiation is a little bit more penetrating than Alpha, so Beta can’t be stop by paper. Aluminium can stop Beta-radiation. There need to be 8 pieces of paper and round about 2 mm aluminium.

Gamma-radiation is very penetrating, so it is hard to stop the energy. There need to be 7 cm lead before Gamma is slowed down.

Everyone on the earth, is exposed to radiation every hour. But it isn’t dangerous. Our organism is build for that, so it can’t hurt us. We can’t do anything to stop the daily radiation. This is called background radiation.

What do we use Alpha-radiation for?

Alpha is used in fire alarms or smoke detectors because in the fire alarm there is some Americium-241. There is like 1/5000 of a gram in it, but Americium sends out Alpha radiation. Americium constantly releases Alpha which knocks the electrons of the air. It ionizes the oxygen and nitrogen which are in the chamber. The positive oxygen and nitrogen are attached to the negative plate while the electrons are attached to the positive plate. That generates a small electric current. When smoke enters the chamber, the smoke particles attach to the ions and neutralise them. The effect of that is, that the ions don’t reach the plate. It stops the electric current and triggers the fire alarm.The Alpha particle is also in the atomic bomb. Uranium-235 sends out Alpha particle. The Alpha particle hits the other Uranium atoms and a nuclear fission is about to be created instantly. When a fission happens it generates a lot of heat, and then the big iron barrel can’t hold the pressure anymore.

What do we use Beta-radiation for?

We use Beta-radiation to cure people of cancer. When people get cancer in their cells, they go to a hospital. At the hospital they get radiotherapy. A machine, shoot radiation beams, at the place where you have got cancer. The radiation beams destroy the cells in which you have got cancer, and that will help you out of cancer. There are some side effects. When the machine shoot radiation beams at the place in which you have got cancer, you also loose the good cells. The worst that can happen is that you can loose your hair or you can get sterile. You can only be sterile if you get radiation beams in your testicles.

What do we use Gamma-radiation for?

Often when a fusion happens it creates energy in form of Gamma radiation. Gamma rays are the most energetic form of light and are produced in the very hot area of the universe. They are also produced in a supernova explosion. A supernova is a way to describe how massive stars die, like you have heard before, our sun is a star, not a planet. When the sun gets older and older, it grows to a massive size. By the end, the size of the sun will fill the whole solar-system and completely destroy all the planets. When the sun is at it’s biggest, it explodes. Not just a normal tiny explosion, but an explosion that is so powerful that it could erase the Milkyway. That is a supernova. Gamma rays are used in astronomy. Every star, supernova, black hole, solar flares and active galaxies send out gamma rays. When we invented the telescope which could see gamma rays, everything became much more clear. We could now experience a whole new level of exploring the galaxies.

Nuclear Phychics

Nuclear phychics were discovered in 1896 by a man called Henri Becquerel. In a coincidence he discovered that uranium salt blackened his photographic plates. He let the uranium salt be in his window for about 3 hours. The uranium salt was put on top of photographic plates. The uranium salt was wrapped in photographic film, so the sunshine couldn’t shine at the uranium salt. That is how he discovered it. In 1903 he got the Nobelprice for that discovery. Later they discovered that the reason of the blackened photographic plates was the changes in the unstable nuclear core.

This is also about radiation. If something emits Alpha radiation, it gives out 2 protons and 2 neutrons. Alpha is the largest radiation beam which exists. So it will go from one element to another.This is the solution:241Am237Np+4He. If you got 241Am and it releases alpha radiation, then that means 4helium molecule, travel away from it. Then it gets 4 less nucleons and then it becomes another element 237Np. But of course it takes time before an element becomes another element. That is what we call half-life. Half life is the time it takes to become another element. When a half life is gone 50% of it is covered into another element, now in this reason it’s Neptunium. When another half life is gone, 50% percentages of the rest of the Americium is covered into Neptunium. So now there’s only 25% left. This will happen until all of it, is covered into Neptunium. One half life of Americium is 432 years.

This doesn't happen in Beta radiation. In Beta radiation something else happen. Beta radiation sends out one proton and one electron. This happens when a neutron is transmuted into a proton and an electron. When a core gets another proton it becomes another element.
So Strontium sends out an electron and a proton. That will then say that the next element will get another proton. In this case it’s another Strontium molecule. When that happens it get another proton and therefore it will change into another element. The half life of Strontium is right around 29 years.

Gamma radiation is a electromagnetic beam. It is pure energy, and when an element emits gamma, none element transfusion happens. It doesn’t change into another element, it stays the same. Gamma radiation is in the same league as X-rays and Radio waves.

The three radiation types and ioniserende radiation

The three types of radiation are called alfa, beta and gamma.

Alfa: Alfa is the biggest type of radiation . It has two protons and two neutrons, that means that the particles are the atomic nucleus of the element Helium. It can easily be stopped, f.ex a piece of paper or 5 centimeters of air. If the radioaktive atomic nucleus loose 2 protons it will be changed into another element with 2 atomic numbers lower. Alfa radiation has a speed 5% of the speed of light, which is 15.000km/s. In 1899 the radiation was discovered by Ernest Rutherford. The most dangerus sort of radioactive radiation is if it comes into the body, so the energy goes into the inner organs. The most smoke detectors contain a bit of the alfa-source Americium-241.

Beta: Beta is a bit harder to stop than Alfa. It can move many centimeters and goes through 0,5 millimeter of metal foil. Beta concists of electrons from the nucleus., They are not there the whole time. They arise when a neutron change to a proton and a electron.
When the nucleus get a proton more, the atomic will change to a new element which is one size bigger. Beta is negatively charged. Beta radiation has a range which is 10 times bigger than the range of Alfa radiation.

Gamma: Gamma is the one which can move longest in the air and it can go through a big metal plate. Gamma radiation is an electromagnetic radiation like light, radio wave and exray radiation. Gamma radiation arise when an energy change is taking place.
Gamma is an energy rich sort of electromagnetic radiation.

Ionizing radiation: Ionizing radiation has a very big type of energy. The radiation from the radioactive elements ionizing the elements which is being hit. That a radiation is being ionized means that it is being hit, that is both good and bad, because it has some consequences.The first time radioactivity was observed was in 1896 of Henri Becquerel. There are some different types and ionizing radiation, Alfa, Beta and Gamma.

What is Barium?

Barium is number 56 in the periodic table of the elements, and the chemical symbol is "Ba".

If Barium is exposed to normal temperatures and state of pressure, the element will appear as a soft, silverwhite metal, with chemical characteristics, almost like Calcium. The difference is that Barium is willing to react more.

Barium has the chemical characteristic that it rusts very easy in contact with atmospheric air.

Barium sulphate works excellent as a counter-substance in x-rays. The patient have to eat a Barium-meal which contains Barium sulphate. The idea is to follow the patients meal in x-rays, all the way through the digestive system.

The good thing about Barium is that it isn't poisonous, because it isn't soluble in the stomach, and neither in the gastric juice of the stomach. It doesn't cause damage.

Barium was identified for the first time in the year of 1774, by Carl Scheele.

Barium reacts very easy with the oxygen of the air, so it is very unusual to find the metallic element of it in the nature. Instead you can extract the mineral Barit, which is a crystal clear Barium sulphat.

Barium has 22 isotopes. The natural element - Barium, is build by 7 different kinds of stable isotopes.
Most of Bariums isotopes, has a short half-life, from small seconds. They are also strongly radioactive. The only exception is Barium 133, which has a half-life at 10,51 years.

In first time had we a time which says 70 second, the sekund time says 90 second, the third time says 60 second, and the last time says 80 second. In average is the time 75 second.

In another expriment had we take the time for every 10. second, and for the first 10 second is the tallow number 650 in the second.
When we take the first 100 second, have we a tallow number who says;

10 = 650

20 = 637

30 = 586

40 = 583

50 = 556

60 = 537

70 = 462

80 = 458

90 = 482

100 = 451

And it says us that the half-life of Barium takes long time.

When Barium is cut in half is it another element, and that element is Nickel, and Nickel's symbol is NI.

A new school year has begun in we are now 7th graders.
And because we're older, then we are going on a camping trip. The location is called ''Skibelund'' and it's about 20 kilometers from Kolding. It's 10 meters from the ocean and we are lying outdoor when we are asleep. The trip was realy cozy and we enjoyed being together and have fun.

The Ghost of Genny Castle

I have taken a picture from a story called “the ghost of Genny castle” and write a story about the picture.

I have taken picture number 5 from the story, because it’s telling a little about Claire, she is main character, because Claire is much curious to learn about the castle. On the picture I see Claire who is looking for a book, telling about the castle and she finds the book. The librarian finds the book to Claire. The book lies in the bottom of the library and the book was very old. Everyone was afraid of the book, because it’s telling about the Castle and everyone is afraid of the castle. Claire was not afraid of the book, because she does not know about the castle. In the book you could read about a girl, she was the new servant in the castle and her sister was a witch and they thought that the new servant was like a witch. Claire gets Goosebumps, because it was scary to read about the girl, because the girl died and became a ghost.

The Cat - The Ghost of Genny Castle

There was once a boy named Simon, who should have his best friend Sten on visit. When they were on their way home, they see a cat that has not neck band, so they take it home. When they come home, his mother says that they must not have it in the house, so they take it out into a playhouse out back in the garden, and bring those on. So they go in and talk about how they could provide the food, Sten says that they can just mowing the lawn and wash the car. So Sten start mowing the lawn, while Simon washes the car and they get the 400 Pounds for it. But they also have a basket, so they go out to earn some more money. They ask the neighbour and she must have everything out on a trailer so they do it for 200 Pounds . But what they have to load anything on the trailer they find a basket, so they ask the lady if they'll get it. They get it, for her cat just died. So they rush to make their work done, so they can come home with it to the cat. They go on to play house and lies it so that it can get to sleep well.
And then they go out and buy 4kg food for the cat and some toys.
When they get home, the cat gets food and they go in and eat food. The mother says to
Simon that he may well get the cat in because they knew that they may well fit the cat. So after dinner they do clear the inside of Simon's room, so they go out and get the cat but the cat is gone. He was upset and the mother said that tomorrow they get a another cat. It is getting late so Sten will go home. After he said goodbye he goes up and lies to sleep. And last night he dreamed of a cat in a snowstorm, but then he woke up and discovered that it was
weekend. He should go out and have a new cat today. He goes down to the table and ate breakfast. So they drove out and bought a new cat. He can hardly wait, and when he came home with the cat in her basket. There lived happily until their death.

I’m finished now.! So I go for a walk said Claire. Okay Claire but come home before it’s

getting dark said Aunt Min (Aunt Min was not happy. She knew that Clarie wanted to go over to Genny castle.)

(Claire couldn't see the castle yet. But now she could see it.)

Wow! It’s so beautiful, she said. I will inside she said. But where is the door?

(Claire was walking around the castle, and she found the door but the door was opened)

Hallo!! Screamed Clarie, is there somebody in there? There was no answer.

(Claire would in there but she was a little bit afraid.) It’s getting darker Clarie said to herself.

She looked up, and a big stone come down from the top of the tower.

Claire was not thinking, she jumped over in the bushes.

(Claire looked up and saw a person. There was something about the person she could

recognise, but she didn’t know what?)

Av my knee said Claire. (She was crying) She ran home to Aunt Min, She was afraid of

Aunt Min's reaction.

Where have you been? Said Aunt Min. (Aunt Min looked at Claire and she could see her

knee was bleeding.)

I have been at the castle. Said Claire.

I have said to you, at you mustn’t go there. It is dangerous!! Said Aunt Min. (Aunt Min was a

little bit angry)

Come with me into the bathroom, so we can stop the bleeding Said Aunt Min.

Here is a plaster, said Aunt Min.

Thank you Aunt Min. I will go to sleep now.! Said Claire

Good night Clarie. Good night Aunt Min.

That night Claire was thinking. How was the person?

The cat

It is about a cat who likes to be outside. One day the cat will outside and finds an open window. The cat uses a lot of time outside because it is boring inside the house. When the cat is inside the house it has found a nice place to sleep. The cat was pushed away by vacuum cleaner, and because of that, the cat likes to be outside.
One day the cat wants to go out on a very long walk, but it does not know where it is allowed to go. Then the cat comes to think that it will try to go in to the tower and see how wild cats drill inside in the tower and how wild cats get food. In the tower there were many people and many other things. Then it sees another cat and follows black cat later. The cat was beginning to be tired of being inside in the tower with all the people. Then the cat begins to go home. When the cat goes home it sees many things. When the cat was nearly at home it was nobody at home and there wasn’t any doors or windows open, so it couldn’t get in. The cat meets another cat while it waits to be let into the house. Next day the cats meet one another again and they walk a little time and then they become good friends.

Hi! My name is Sindy. Tomorrow I’ve been dead for three months. The last month of my life was a true nightmare. I wanna tell why, here. It all started because of my sister Wendy. She is 14 and one year younger than me. Well, here comes my story:

It was my birthday and my mom, dad and little sister came and sang birthday song for me in the morning. My sister gave me a beautiful necklace with diamonds and my mom and dad gave me a laptop and a new, really expensive bike. We were a pretty rich family so it was always expensive presents we got. Sometimes it was a bit annoying to be so rich. All my friends were only my friends because of my family’s money. My friends always got something when they were visiting me, so they just used me. Sometimes I wished we didn't have so much money. Well, now it was my birthday and I shouldn't think of that, I should just be happy. I could feel that it would be a wonderful day, and something special would happen. Later that day I went out for a walk and I met a strange, little creature. It was a little gnome, and he gave me a ring. He said it could make three of my wishes come true. I was really happy but at the same time confused. I just met a magical gnome who gave me a magic ring on my birthday. It was so weird, but I decided not to tell anybody about the ring. I knew that there wasn't anyone who would believe me. I went home. I lay in my bed and thought of my wishes. I thought about all the bad things in my life. For example that thing about being rich. I thought of my family that wasn't so rich. It would be amazing to get some real friends. So that's what I did! I wished that my family wasn't so rich, and I hoped it would come true. A few seconds later everything was black. I didn't know what it was but I thought about my wish. Maybe it was because of that. Suddenly the world came back, and I was inside an old, weird house. I walked around in the house, and saw my mom. I asked her what was happening, but she didn't know what I was talking about. Then I asked why we lived in a house like this. She said that we’d lived there in my hole life. I didn't understand it. Well, we were not rich anymore but I didn't want to live in a house like this! I said to my mom: “Mom, what year are we in?” and she said: “We are in 1634, but I thought you knew that?” I didn't know what I should say, I just walked into my room and started to cry. I was so sad because of one stupid wish. I looked at my finger. The ring was on it. I thought of my second wish. Could I just wish that I wanted to live in my old house, and my original house? I tried that, but it didn't work. Maybe the ring counted this house and this year as my original. Now I only had one wish left. I decided to tell my sister about the ring. I really needed help. I asked my mom where Wendy was. She said that she was outside. I went outside and I found my sister. “Wendy!” I said. “I need some help from you! It's very important.” She asked what was wrong. I explained the whole story to her. She could understand it. She said that since I wish the first one, bad things was happened. Wendy broke her toe, mom's eggs where crashed and dad's horse ran away. I knew it was because of the ring. The ring was evil. I wanted to throw it away, but I thought that I maybe would need the last wish. 5 days after, it knocked on our door. It was many angry people who said they were looking for Sindy. I said it was me and they took me with them. I was caught in a net. The angry people told me that I should be burned because I was evil. They said it was my sister who told them that. When they said that, I was so angry. They told me that many bad things had happened to them. I knew it was because of the ring, but I also knew that if I told them that, they wouldn’t believe me. I was caught in a month. After a month, I should burn. When I came up to the fire, I thought of my ring. Maybe I could use the last wish now. My wish should be right. I said in my head: “I wish my sister was here instead of me.” Suddenly I stood on the ground and I could look up to my sister on the fire. “She deserved it,” I thought. I was happy to see her on the fire because of that thing she had done to me. But then I looked at her finger. She had a ring too! I could see her mouth, and it said something. “Oh no,” I thought, and suddenly it was me on the fire again. Now I had no more wishes. I looked down to the flames. They were burning my feet. Behind a tree, I saw the gnome who gave me the ring. In his eyes I could see my sister...

Claire is a girl, and she is 14 years old. Claire has just got summer holiday from the school. In the summer holiday, Claire and her family should on holiday in New Zealand. When they were sitting in the plane, Claire and her little brother talked about things they should do in the holiday. Then her brother told her, that there was a castle, which should be very big and beautiful. Claire would naturally very much love to see that. Two days after, they were on the way in a bus to the castle. They walked around in the castle, when Claire suddenly saw a spot on the floor… The next day, Claire went down to the nearest shop. She would go down there, to see if she could find some books about the castle or may be just the spot. She would like to know, what the spot on the floor was. Then she saw a woman, and she asked for help. It would be very nice, if they had the book. The woman gave her the book, and Claire hurried home, to read the book. Suddenly she saw a spot that looked exactly like the spot, she had seen in the castle. Then she read it through thoroughly. She found out, that there was one, who had fallen, and there was also blood. But it couldn’t clean up, before it was the right person that came to rule the castle. It had to be the right one. But who was it? She read on, and then she suddenly saw a name. It could be this person, but where was this person. She looked after him in a telephone book. Then she found him, she called to him and says to the man he should come to the castle now. Then he came, he was asked to rule. And he said yes. Then Claire was in a hurry, she would see if the spot was gone. Some time passed, but suddenly the spot was gone. So it was a happy ending.

I’m god. I’m sitting on a beautiful and wonderful flower. When I'm talking, people hear my voice as the wind, and when I move, they think it’s the wind too, so for them, I’m the wind! It was me, there dind’t help the girl who die. She was a lovely little child, but understand me when I’m say, that the girl was very ill and it was the best for her and for her family too! It was a big loss. There isn’t a day when the family doesn’t cry, because of the girl’s death and I couldn't stand that, so after a day or two, the girl is alive again! The family is very astonished, that the girl was alive again and they don’t get the answer of that, but the point is that they all are very happy in the end, and the whole because of God! Once upon a time, there was a boy by name Carl and a woman by name Inge, Carl would see if he could find a Christmas present to his mother, Carl went hunting after a special thing, he found a musical box. But not a normal musical box, it could something special. But Carl did not know what it could do, he bought it and went home. He would see what it could do, it had a key in it and it said “it is to the castle” Carl got afraid. He took his coat on and went to the castle, there was a long way. He took the key into the keyhole, it said clik and the door went up. Carl was afraid, but also curious, a voice was speaking, but he didn’t hear it, now it came again. The voice said “who is there” Carl said “My name is Carl” the castle said “if you are not out of me in five minutes you’ll never get out”. Carl went further into the castle, he was not afraid. Carl saw nothing, and go further aging. After four minutes Carl sow some paintings, he think that they looked at him. He wanted to get out, his heart jumped. But it was too late the five minutes were going, Carl came in a dungeon and died

some days after.

Last thursday the 6th graders from Vonsild had a Skype conference with a 2nd grade class from Spain. We were presented to the Spanish painter Valazquez and his painting "Meninas".

This is what we learned from them:

The spanish people are telling us about some special pictures that an old painter, painted for a long time ago. He painted a lot of pictures with some secret in them. Most of the pictures have a whole story behind the pictures. (Magnus)

I chose a song called ''Snow'' and it's created by ''red hot chilli peppers'' in 2002. It's recorded in Los Angeles CA and in 2004 the song was used for an international crack campaign.

It´s all about a ghost there has killed it´s wife.
And then a day there came a family to his castle.
It will frighten the family back again
but that is the ghost not so good to. The twins in the family put a string out and oil so the ghost will fall, and took a bottle of water over a door, and when the ghost came it get´s the water in his head. but a day the ghost was sad. The little girl from the family see the ghost and goes into it. She ask him what wrong and the ghost tells
her it. Then he has to tell it to her the little girl gonna pray for him.
I think it´s good. I will recommend it too the english readers.

We have made some planches in our class about diferent countries we were in some groups and to choose countries

we should tell about it in front of our class and afterwards we had to hang them up in the Main hall so all the kids at school could go over and look at it so they could learn about countries.

Hi it's Magnus Schou 6A from Denmark.
I don't think anybody has ever made an input on the blog about the town we are living in (Kolding). So I will be the first to do it so I hope you will enjoy it.

Kolding is an old king city from 1200 AC. Today it's Denmark 6th biggest town with 60.000 people. And about 100.000 in the Municipality. Kolding is about 600 square kilometers with beatuful nature and cozy little towns, and of course the head town Kolding. Kolding have a lot of nice museum and educaition places. Kolding have a vision which is to be the best shopping, educaition and culutistic town in Denmark. Next year there is comming an University in Kolding to. I think kolding is a nice town to live in we have all the qualeties that a middle city should have. Here is some links to some of koldings attractions.

Better Friends in the kitchen

This video is for Mr. Miller and his class. Here in 6th grade all of us have a little dream about going to California. It's about a half a year ago our teacher a.k.a. Stefan Nielsen showed us the song for the first time. All of us liked it and that's why we want to share it with you guys over there in the Golden State.
